Concord combines the hyperkinetic ferocity of Overwatch with the roguish intergalactic shenanigans of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and a real focus on story progression to create a fresh entry into the increasingly crowded hero shooter genre. If you’re tired of the current crop of hero shooters, Concord looks set to bring enough to reinvigorate even the most fatigued hero shooter veteran.
Be sure to keep this guide in your favourites as we cover everything you need to know about Concord including the release date, beta details, digital deluxe edition details, character list, story details, gameplay details, the latest trailer and more.
Concord Release Date
Concord has been officially confirmed for a full release on PS5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 23, 2024. Concord will not be released for PS4, Nintendo Switch or Xbox platforms as of this writing.
How To Play The Concord Beta
Before its full release in August, eager players can get stuck into Concord beforehand thanks to a Concord beta that will be available in July 2024. Split into an Early Access Beta and an Open Beta – which will be run over separate sessions – the Early Access beta weekend takes place from July 12 to July 14, while the Open Beta weekend unfolds from July 18 to July 21. In addition to the full roster of 16 characters, the Concord beta also provides access to the following four maps – Freewater, Shock Rise, Star Chamber, and Water Hazard. Later in the Beta, a fifth map known as Bone Mines, will also be released to keep things appropriately spicy.
In order to access the Concord Early Access beta you just need to simply pre-order the game via Steam, Epic Games store or PlayStation Store. Once your pre-order has been processed you’ll then be sent five codes which can be used for you and your mates to access the beta nice and early.
Concord Advanced Access
In addition to its Early Access and Open betas, Concord will also enjoy an Advanced Access release period that will allow players to hit the ground running on the full game three days before the official release on August 23, 2024. Concord Advanced Access will be available to anybody who purchases the Concord Digital Deluxe Edition.

Concord Story
Where Concord separates itself from other hero shooters on the market is in how it concurrently runs both macro and micro storylines. From the cinematic trailer for Concord for example, we know that the five Freegunners (think space smugglers) 1-Off, Haymar, Lennox, Star Child and Vale, which crew up the agile spacecraft known as the Northstar, find themselves escaping Crater City while a nefarious group known as The Guild pursues them.
Not only will the overarching story be constantly updated every week through special cinematics to keep things fresh, but each character will have their own narrative arc too, allowing developer Firewalk Studios to provide real depth to each of Concord’s 16 different combatants alongside a fleshing out of the universe at large.
Concord Crew Bonuses
Though each of Concord’s 16 characters have their own abilities, weaknesses and strengths (which we’ll get onto in a bit), they each also subscribe to one of six Crew Bonuses which provide additional specific buffs as well. Those buffs include:
Anchor – Improves quality of healing received
Breacher – Reduces dodge/evasion cooldown
Haunt – Provides faster movement
Ranger – Reduces weapon recoil
Tactician – Allows for quicker weapon reloads
Warden – Extends the functional range of all weapons

Concord Gameplay
At its core Concord is a fast-paced, first-person PvP 5v5 online-only hero shooter and so on the surface at least, those who have been previously initiated with the likes of Overwatch and Valorant will have a fair idea about what to expect from Concord in a broad sense. Ultimately, this means that two teams will tangle with each other across a range of game modes (see below), with each team boasting a composition of different characters that will provide an overall tactical synergy unique to that team.
On a more granular level, each of Concord’s initial line-up of 16 characters not only boasts their own strengths, weaknesses, weapons and cooldown-based abilities, allowing ample latitude for player mastery in the process. In terms of microtransactions, developer Firewalk Studios has explicitly stated that Concord won’t be pay-to-win and instead that microtransactions will only be used to purchase new cosmetics.
Concord Game Modes
Beyond the aforementioned characters and maps that the game will launch with (both of which will have their numbers bolstered by promised post-launch updates), Concord underlines its PvP game design with six very different objective-oriented game modes.
- Elimination: A standard team deathmatch scenario where the player team that scores the most kills wins.
- Occupation: Occupation has players either defending a specific area on a given map or destroying every member of the opposing team before they defend their own area.
- Salvage: Special items are dotted around the map with points awarded for successful retrievals – chasing down enemy players and stealing their loot is also actively encouraged.
- Signal Hunt: Here, specific areas are triggered on a map and each team is required to defend those areas before the clock runs down.
- Trophy Hunt: Two teams take part in this mode and each has their own trophy cards, with the goal being for one team to steal and accumulate as many of these trophy cards to win.
- Zone Control: Essentially a variant on the classic territory capture mode, Zone Control has teams capturing three areas on a map with more points being awarded for the more zones that are under friendly control.
Where Can I Watch The Latest Trailer?
The latest trailer for Concord is available to watch right now and you can view it above. Providing an action-packed overview of Concord’s 5v5 PvP shenanigans across a range of different arenas, the latest trailer for Concord also gives some decent insight into how some of its characters function too, with the likes of Star Child, Vale, 1-Off and more all being given ample time in the spotlight.
